Some have said she's stronger than fairies should be, but you don't know if they're just overestimating her or not. The former of the two fairies is also abnormal, in that everything about her, even her name, screams "greater". There's probably more you haven't seen of her that is further evidence, but you've seen enough already to believe those rumors more than the rumors of the ice fairy being legitimately strong. There are also generally a lot of fairies around the lake, at least in the times you've been there, as well as an afternoon mist making things difficult to see.
