Title: What countries do you think where visual novels is REALLY unknown?
Post by: SirtheBastard on September 23, 2024, 04:38:06 AM
Explaining more about this thread, it could be countries where the quantity of visual novel fans are low or non-existent, or something along the lines :p.

I sometimes wonder about where VNs would not be unknown today. VN popularity has gone down in Japan, however the games still seem to sell abroad because of the English translations. So one would need a small(ish) non-English speaking country where Japanese culture is not that big of a thing.

Stupid guesses with no evidence whatsoever: Vatican, Bhutan. Afganistan, Pakistan(?)

Likely where videogames presence is limited, especially "generally developing and distant foreign-to-localize videogames genre ( majorly JAP but also Far-easten derived or collab. VN/Virtual Novels "...
Likely poorer and more remote among "the hinterland Central African countries and among the( African) Sahel countries with the Poo countries and the central American and Southern  American Countries ""more distant from their more 'techy' neighbour the 'north America' "...

Also according to this https://gamesindustryafrica.com/2024/01/22/state-of-the-african-games-industry-2024/ there are 2 ,1 continent and 1 sub-continent are fairly close to least, if this chartered article-report is looked through  mostly in reverse like  "the 2024 least profitable-developed-covered continent/sub-continent as Game Industry release/sal... ", which may be also be  cross-referenced with "searches/reports about the most popular videogame series by country" for better  precision on the "chosen within continent sub-continent" countries.

For me, it could be most of African countries. But yeah, it's really funny that the countries you picked (except Vatican City) tend to be difficult to live in; due to wars, censorship, cultural views about entertainment like anime, all that stuff.
