Is there fears you guys had when you were a child that scared you and ingrained in your child's self mind, only to then to look back at it in retrospect and realize it was really unwarranted and just silly.

For me, it was looking at dead fish. XD They just look scary when they are dead; with their blank empty eyes staring at me menacingly. That scared the living crap out of me and made me cry. Now, it's just a silly thing, and I'm now curious to see the fish in a fish store just to look at them with intrigue.

i used to be terrified of drop ceilings when i was a toddler. i can't even remember why.

a lot of my childhood fears are understandable in some way, like a fear of drowning or fear of bees, but i also used to be terrified that the moon would crash into the earth.

i haven't the slightest idea what prompted this, maybe seeing a very large moon near the horizon at some point or something i saw on tv? either way, that the moon could slam into the earth and kill us all was a legit fear of mine well into grade school. i managed to get over this when a science teacher told us that the moon will eventually fly away from us and then i was like "oh that's a relief"

I used to sleep as close to the wall as possible because of a nursery rhyme that went "don't sleep at the edge or the wolf will bite you". Thanks, grandma!

When I was 10 or so, I had all those VHS tapes with UFO shows on them, which I loved to watch on repeat (even though they spooked me out a bit). Well, one day I saw something in the night sky through the window and got scared. Later on I have, of course, learned that it was merely a bright meteor, but back then it made me afraid to look at the sky for a good month or so. Unfortunate, considering my love for astronomy.

Much, much later, we were looking at stars with my father when we noticed something on the horizon: an object that rapidly brightened more or less to match Venus, then faded just as suddenly. It was simply a satellite flare, most likely an Iridium flare (it's a damn shame they don't happen anymore). I wasn't exactly scared of it, but I didn't know about satellite flares at the time and the thought of an event that I could not explain to the best of my knowledge was unsettling.

Hey, now. If you want some really crazy stuff told to children, try reading some of the less known Grimm fairytales. This one's good. Pretty messed up and not even a little bit Slavic.

Huh, very interesting... It could be suitable for a cosmic horror story, a novel of some sorts!!

THX Logo. As soon as I saw that silver logo fade in i would run to the other side of the house and cover my ears as if a nuke was about to go off.

Which, isn't that far from the truth.

Back in the childhood I was quite energetic child, and so broke my arm, running around mall. I was very afraid of my clumsiness, expecially on step-stairs, so when I climbed very long stairs, I always clung to the railing with both my hands and was afraid to take steps.

This topic is reminding me about this informative insight video clip a href ="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phpURtBjxV8&t=6s - "Comparison: Children's Biggest fears from different Countries " - which I have came across just last week ...
Was it relatable to yours, more match or less match? Perhaps to the children and kids back then or now here from the country ,even just a portion or region or  zone, country, you are from and/or are the most acquainted with?
