Beneath the Night Sky, a Young Girl and Shrine Maiden (夜色之下,少女与巫女), often shortened to "Young Girl and Shrine Maiden", is a 2019 Chinese touhou fangame made in RPGMaker XP. It's a short, linear experience inspired by LISA, using music from its fangames.

This fangame actually comes bundled with another fangame I'm translating called Human Spirit Agency (人灵事务所), so you'll see the downloads for HSA in the original folder, too.

You can download the original game here (be aware that it's a baidu netdisk link, which means you need an account to download from it; registering an account requires a Chinese phone number)

If you can't download off Baidu Netdisk but still want the original game, you can get it here:
Mega Mediafire

You can download the English version of the game here:

Is the other game also a Touhou fangame, or is there a reason the two are bundled together?

Yeah, it is. I have no idea why the two are bundled together, though.

Just finished playing the game, it was really nice.

Spoilers for the game below, open at your own risk.
Spoiler:
Overall, it's one of the better RPGmaker Touhou fangames I've played (considering that  it was made with RPGMakerXP).
The combat was fun, I really liked the battle dynamic between the girl and Reimu. It was interesting to see how the character's skills were tied in with their character development. It's kinda poetic how the girl starts with nothing but as she gains confidence her skill roster grows and all of them are all related directly to her development. I do have to admit as well that some fights did get me stuck for a while, most fights aren't a big challenge nor are they easy peazy, it's a good balance. My only complaints about the gameplay are that you can't backtrack to get items that you could've missed and that sometimes the enemies' name overlap with their health number making it hard to see.

Also, when the Mother 3 song played during the Star Sapphire bossfight, I actually lost my mind.

I really liked the story as well, the entire game revolves around the relationship between Reimu and the girl. The game explores an aspect of Reimu's personality that I don't see covered a lot in the fandom. The girl's character is shrouded in mystery in regards to her backstory. She doesn't go the usual shy to sociable route, she's still shy toward the end but inside she grows as a character, eventually sacrificing herself to protect Reimu. I'm sad that she got eaten to death though :( Although fairies of light aren't my favourite idiot trio, I still found them hilarious throughout the story and in the end they had a beautiful little arc with Luna, which I appreciated.
I liked the other characters as well but not as much to the extent of the ones I mentioned above.

I ended up with what appears to be the normal ending. The final dialogue implies that there's probably a secret path you can go through I really don't know, considering that there are no guides for it in English and that I don't want to go trying to find Chinese guides or videos on it, I don't even know if the ending exists at all. If I do find anything on it in the future, I'll post it here so people who only speak English can have access on how to get it. If somebody out there does figure it out/knows it then please post it here so I can get the ending.  :cirnotan:

There are a lot of loose ends and parts in the story that intrigue me and it would be a pleasure to experience it.

Thank you RealeLY for translating it and allowing us foreigners to have a taste of Chinese Touhou culture  :meiling: :meiling: :meiling:

A bit late but I finally found the secret ending. I tried to get it honestly by trying different dialogues but by the third run I was annoyed and I just ended up decrypting the game files and finding it. Below is a spoiler-free guide to help you get said ending. I recommend playing the game by yourself first since this ending has some pretty hard lore drops. I will likely update my review based on this information and all the new opinions I've garnered over replaying this game 5 times.

Spoiler:
Guide to the Secret Ending:

1. In order to get the secret ending, as alluded by the mysterious character that speaks if you get the normal ending, you must respond with the "..." option at every opportunity that is given to you, be it in a cutscene or in the areas where you have free movement. Some of the question prompts in the game don't have an "..." option but they won't jeopardize the chances of you getting the secret ending so don't worry about it. The tricky part about this is that some of the prompts are easy to miss and sometimes you can ruin your run just because you forgot to talk to Reimu in an area. In the maps where you have free movement make sure to talk to her at minimum three times since some of the prompts only appear in the second dialogue.

2. When you reach the area before the final fight with Nue (The area with the bridge that has 4 lanterns on each corner), you must speak to Reimu who is on the top right of the map. Her first dialogue will be the same as normal. But if you have done everything right, once you speak to her again, a slightly different dialogue followed by a choice prompt and this time you do not choose the "..." option, rather you pick the first one.

3. After you're done with that you have to do one more thing before you go fight Nue. Go back to the bridge and now you will see a mysterious figure. If you interact with it, you are given the option of touching it or leaving it alone. If you leave it alone, nothing will happen and you won't be able to get the actual final ending so we will have to touch it. A fight will commence but wherever you win or lose doesn't matter as the result will be the same. You will receive a full HP and MP heal, 2 Harming Amulets and the final condition to unlock the ending.

4. Now you can do the Nue fight. Everything will play out the same as normal (The girl still gets eaten) up until the end of the credits. If you only did the first and second steps, a black screen will appear with new dialogue and a big twist, but if you did all the steps, you will get an actual cutscene after the black screen dialogue and a satisfying conclusion to the story.

If you still have any troubles getting the ending you can PM me or write a response here.

Wow that is dedication to the game. I was going to reply with how to achieve the secret ending but it sorta slipped my mind. I'm glad someone other than me likes this game enough to go for the secret ending.

Update: I've decided to bundle the game with LELauncher by DTM. You can read about it in detail in its thread here, but basically it's a localized instance of Locale Emulator so you no longer need to switch locales or install Locale Emulator to run the game.

I've also included Mega and Mediafire mirrors for the original Chinese version of the game if downloading off Baidu Netdisk is impossible.
