>Sort of. You know where the Moriya Shrine and the lake is, at least. The far side of the mountain is a pretty broad area, given that's about 1/3rd or so of the whole of youkai mountain. You'd hope a mine on the north side of the mountain wouldn't be too hard to find... But it's not like you go around there.

>There are some paths you could take. Flight is also an option, but you'll want to go around the mountain rather than over.

>You leave the festival and the town behind, following a trail that runs along the circumference of the mountain. Soon you leave the river basin behind. The land becomes less marshy and more rocky, the cattails and grasses give way to bushes and small trees; then forests and reasonably heavy undergrowth. Birdsong and insect hums make a nice enough background din.
>You make your way around side of the mountain, having a reasonably easy time of it, until an explosion sounds probably no more than ten yards away, loud enough that you can feel it as much as hear it!

>You don't see any explosions in the air. You take flight, moving above the tree line. The trees are pretty dense, but you can see a plume of smoke some yards away, and some movement around that area.

>You float in that direction, and find a clearing where some kind of explosion, happened, given the scarring on the ground. Though, honestly, for as loud as it was, you immediately note the damage isn't that much. You think this was more of a firework than a bomb.

>You settle down onto the ground and keep going. As you do, you hear yamawaro (you presume) rushing through the underbrush toward the explosion site from several directions, and more gunfire.

>You shout out, and you can't help but wonder if they next couple of gunshots don't come toward your direction. Not that you see any bullets hit anything around you.
>Soon you're out of the battlefield, which sounds like it's getting pretty heated; there may be more than two sides at work. There is definitely another explosion; not quite as bad as the previous, but very distinctive. You keep going, and leave it behind as you make your way to the eastern side of the mountain. The trees here are a bit more sparse, not quite the lush woodlands of the lower reaches of the mountain, but certainly more than what can be seen at this elevation on the western side where you live. That said, it's certainly thick enough to make it hard to see far from the ground.

>Ah, there, somewhat higher up the mountain. There's a building with the low steeped roof of a shrine.

>You make your way toward the building, and find it is indeed a shrine. At one point it was probably well maintained, but has definitely seen better days since. Some of the timbers are old and need replacing, some of the lacquer needs reapplying, some of the tiles in the roof are cracked. The front grounds are filled with a number of merchant booths, none of them seem to be manned at the moment. The grounds do seem to be reasonably well maintained and there are some parts of the shrine that have been recently repaired.
