Hello everyone. Let me get straight to the point: I have a piece of fanfiction I am working on. It was originally meant to be a RP thread on here, but as I was drafting the initial post, I figured that a story format would be better. Since it was meant to be a RP thread, it is written in the 2nd person perspective. I made a post on Twitter about this too, so I'll paste it here along with the link.

After I pasted this, I realized I made a typo in this website's url. Whoops.

Hi whoever's reading this. An ambition came to me recently to host a Touhou RP thread on http://shirnemaiden.com . However, as I was drafting the initial post, I thought that a roleplay format wouldn't be the best. As a result, I have decided to create a work of Touhou Project fanfiction.

I haven't changed the general idea from the RP thread, but the plot is still developing, as I prefer writing with whatever comes to mind, and change it later if needed.

I'm still working on the final title, but for now, I'm calling it "Touhou Beyond the Fourth Wall - A Yukari Story".

I have little experience with creative writing, but I am still fairly confident in my abilities as a writer. The last time I tried this was in 7th grade and was about Barney the Purple Dinosaur being a demon from Biblical Hell. My writing teacher LOVED it, not for the story (although that may have been part of it) but for the general craftsmanship.

Overall, I'm saying that this is my first piece of fanfiction that I've ever tried. As it was once meant as a RP thread, it is in the 2nd person POV, with the primary pronoun of "you". If you want to see my work so far, I have it on a Google Doc so people can see my progress.

Oh yeah. There is some Yukari x Ran shipping, but nothing really obscene comes up. Also I'd like to add that this shipping may or may not affect my current Yukari x Reimu shipping preference, but it's too soon to tell.

Hello once again, I'm here to say that I have changed the document that was previously linked into my old draft. From now on, I will be editing on a different document. This is because I would like the format to be a little more like an actual novel. I have also "published it to the web" for easy reading rather than watching me edit and looking at the edit history, but it looks a little weird because of the formatting in the document.

This reminds me somehow of the "format of a variant Touhou CyoA  "I have read quite some time ago.
The "variant" ,if you are interested and it could be help,was/is indeed by its " apparently Full-Fanfiction format despite the Full-CyoA common trend" ; "Apparently" because  "  well-placed surprise presence of CyoA Choices for the readers-players first complementary and then story-weaving-explainig CyoA choices "

The RP thread will be more like the MotK format, but the written story will not have a Choose-your-own-Adventure style, if that's what you're asking.

Are there,but hopefully not, some issues or blocks ,though of courseLife&NeighBours&Related ones need 1st priority ? The tale stopped at the very first beginning of Chapter 4.

After a long hiatus caused by writer's block, I finally got over it and added to the story. Hopefully I will be working on it more often. If you have been checking up on it once in a while, thanks for sticking around! The main plot from here on will start to ramp up, so please check in every once in a while.

As a small but semi-significant apology gift, I have an addition to the title:

東方偽現実 〜 Cruelty of Verisimilar Existence

Pronounced "Touhou Nigenjitsu", "偽現実" translates to "false reality", a fitting name in my opinion. It took me a while to come up with this (especially with the usual 3-kanji format after "東方"), but I am satisfied.

So today I gave further publicity to CoVE, this time posting it on Moriya Shrine. I also let people know about MotK, and apparently I have already recruited someone, so props to them. Now I'll have to be updating CoVE more often, huh?

Update: September 7, 2022

I have finally finished chapter 4, so check that out if you're still sticking around.

Also, I don't remember if I said previously that I would take suggestions for the story, but from this point on, unless I get serious writer's block, I won't be doing that.

As of now, I have developed a general idea for the ending. As for everything in between, I still don't have that entirely planned out.

As I was typing this, an idea came to me. And that simple idea just planned out the basis for the next few chapters. I won't share it though, since it would spoil it, but I will say that the main plot will pick up starting chapter 5.

And lastly, I will no longer be writing directly on the main page. Instead, I'll be drafting on my own private document and transferring each chapter as they finish.

As always, thanks for being here. I'm planning on posting CoVE to more websites for easier reading as well. But just be aware that the Google Doc will always be the most up to date version.

Update: September ⑨, 2022 (Cirno Day)


I have decided that chapters 5-8 will be released all at once, rather than individually when I finish them. You may be wondering why, in which I will say that I can't reveal the reasoning quite yet, but you'll probably understand once they are finished and released.

As a result, CoVE will appear to be on hiatus, but that's not the case, since I'm going to draft 4 chapters before releasing them. I estimate that, since I'm essentially doubling the current story length, it will be at the most ~2 months, and at the least a few weeks.

I am looking forward to what you guys will think of these coming chapters, as you might not expect what is coming ^_^

Hello there. Just in case you were wondering, I haven’t gotten much progress done. Heck, before today I only had a single paragraph done for Chapter 5. So yes, I had writer’s block, but I have an excuse this time. I’m introducing my least favorite Touhou character to the story, so it’s been pretty hard to think of what I want to do for Chapter 5. But after thinking about it, I still have no idea what to do (^^; But I’m just going to go with the flow for now, as I usually do, and hopefully I’ll finish Chapter 5 soon (and bring in that one girl as little as possible).

So due to the short length of my chapters (with the exception of Chapter 3), I felt I might need to combine them somehow. But each chapter was its own thing entirely, so I didn't want to just combine them all and call it good. That's when I thought of a system of acts. The first four chapters are unique enough in their own right, but similar enough to categorize them all as an act. In the future, I might change this to the overall prologue of the story, but I'll keep it as it is for now.

As for the Table of Contents, I do have one, it just doesn't have page numbers. Instead, they are clickable links to automatically jump to that specific chapter. If people would prefer, I could make it based on page numbers, but for some reason it won't allow me to do both, and to fix that, I'd have to manually input each chapter's page to the Table of Contents. I'll work on trying to fix this, but worst case scenario, I'll just manually do it.

Status Update: 12/07/2022

Hey there. OkuuFallout here. For the past month, I’ve been feeling somewhat unmotivated when it comes to working on CoVE. I’ve only gotten about a single page’s worth done in Chapter 6 so far– I‘ve been working on it off and on. However, I’m here to announce a minor change. Formerly known as “Act 1”, Chapters 1-4 are now titled as the prologue, with the next batch of chapters starting as Act 1 instead.

 I realize I’ve been inactive for quite some time now, so I will give an apology/holiday gift to those who have been keeping up.
As of 12/07/2022, Chapter 5 is now released.

Thank you again, if you’ve been keeping up. If you could wait another couple months, I will likely be finished with Act 1 by then.
