Any danmaku assets/pre-made scripts for Unity?
« on: February 13, 2025, 05:59:46 PM »
Hi, I'm new to this forum. And being a game-making hobbyist, I was delighted to see an entire board dedicated to fangames  :D

I like to use Unity to make my games, and I've been thinking of creating a touhou-style bullet hell. Does anybody know any good assets/scripts? Preferably something like a template, movement scripts, or menu designs. Anything to quicken the basic but boring phases of making a game haha.
Thanks in advance!

Nothing that I know about. The known fangames that use Unity (Abyss Soul Lotus, Fantasia and other SlimeSmile games) all use custom/in-house closed source assets.
For art you can probably rip off Ryannlib or other open-licensed asset packs that are designed for other engines and retrofit them into Unity, but you're going to be mostly be on your own.

Alright, thanks for the info! I'm taking a look at Ryannlib and it seems promising. I might even release a free bullet hell template for Unity, if I get to making one.

I've heard from a few folks who've tried to design bullet hell stages in Unity that there are performance issues, which is likely why there's few scripts and assets available compared to more specialized tools like danmakufu. Not to discourage someone from trying, just giving you a heads up.

ASL and the SlimeSmile games seem to perform fine for me, though I think the baseline required specs is higher for Unity than a custom engine or LuaSTG/DNH.

A very helpful setup Based on Unity Engine even if it is not rather recent .
