Basically, the only time I've seen a card not flare up after it got a certain distance away from the table is when it was in its owner's possession. This is what's making me thing the owner dropped it near the box; it would make sense that the card wouldn't flare up if it was most recent in its owner's possession, as long as it didn't come into anyone else's possession."
