Title: What's your favourite fruit?
Post by: jankop on October 17, 2023, 05:03:02 AM
What the title says. As for me, it's orange (and mandarin oranges). Another fruit I really like is banana.

I really like oranges and bananas, oranges especially but only as a juice, I don't really like any other orange based product other than OJ. I've been really into the orange juice of sour oranges, it tastes a lot like lemonade with a tint of orange. And they're really because when you peel them they release this cool smoke.

Pineapples are also cool, I really like Pina coladas.

But my favourite fruit to eat has to be strawberries, they're a real treat and a delicacy especially if you're like me and live in a tropical country where they don't grow. They're very juicy.

I don't really eat fruit a ton on it's own, but I do like apples and bananas.

It has to be lychee. God's greatest fruit gift to earth.

When they're in season in the summer, omg.

Wild cherries and gooseberries, by a decent margin. Too bad they're only around in the summer. Apples and bananas are more reliable.

If we're talking about Chinese originating fruits, then you have to mention the yangmei/waxberry/yumberry/Chinese bayberry
(it has a lot of names)

They're really juicy and delicious and it's unfortunate that I rarely see them sold outside of China/Asia.

Durian. I love durian. I like how spiky looking it is. I love the sweet taste of durian. I love the smell of durian, why is everyone looking at me weird? It's not really that bad... Right?.

People say that it smells like rotting meat, raw sewage, dried vomit, etc etc. I think they are simply unable to understand the greatness of durian.

It certainly has a distinct smell, but to compare it to garbage? This is ridiculous.

Surelu those are gross exaggerations on their ends which should be amended to their Proper Level,  save   :cirnotan: for joking/mostly-joking as you quoted from "degradingwindow" before you,   about its more Pungent and "around mostly-penetrative" Smell? I just visited Southeast Asia and had actually good durian, so my opinion of the fruit has actually gone up quite a bit. The frozen durian here in the US is absolutely awful. Durian-flavored snacks are also usually a miss, they have a terrible aftertaste that sticks forever in your throat.

I cannot directly comment on Durian, since i have never directly tasted or smelled it,but I wholeheartedly see and  agree about the " defects of those fruit-food and fruity snacks more conserved and stale than  freshly or well-enough so".

I can't agree with any of your opinions on durian. I can however call a truce with durian snacks. They are good enough because they taste less like durians and stink much less, if I were starving in a desert and I came upon a durian snack cargo, I would be glad I have food but I would also feel disappointed that I now have to eat durian snacks.

They still count as fruits : which would be your favourite and/or least favourite  "nuts varieties" (59 types listed) https://www.liveeatlearn.com/types-of-nuts/#hazelnuts-see-filberts-above ? Mine would be Hazelnuts , Pine Nuts , Cashew Nuts , Pistachios...least would be Almonds.
If you have one or more "dried fruits derived from fresh fruits" they may also be included if you wish.

If we're talking about dried fruit, I'm always happy when Christmas comes along, because that's when dried apples and prunes start appearing in shops. Granted, prunes can also be bought out of season, but those are full of preservatives that make them taste horrible. Only a fresh prune, pit still inside and all, counts as the stuff.

I never knew nuts counted as fruits till now but I guess they count as well then.

My favourite nut of all time are cashews, especially salted ones. I know that a high amount of salt is bad for my health but I still enjoy eating a lot of them. Pistachios are also very delicious but I only enjoy them processed in sweets like ice cream or cake.

I don't really like dry fruits.

Dried fruits are nice to avoid the drippiness, though I don't eat them regularly.

Dried mango or pineapple are my favorite kinds of dried fruit.  Especially if you get a kind with added sugar.  I know it's bad for you, but as a treat (think of it like candy) they're awesome.  And much cleaner and easier to eat than fresh mango or pineapple.

I really like honeydews. I unfortunately can’t enjoy them very often because the store I get them from douses them in vinegar (or, some strange tangy substance) and it’s terrible
